The shading and depth of the piece along with the muted and well selected use of colors are some of the stand-out elements that pop into the viewer's gaze almost as soon as they take their first look. You've done a marvelous job of giving the character a three dimensional sense through the shading that you're using, grading it at just the right points and with a fairly consistent 'light source' point to draw the shading from. The color choices are muted and just about right for this type of piece, giving the whole image a nicely iconic feel.

Overall, the basic theme of the piece is a classic. Not particularly new or original on its own, it is nevertheless a very good representation of this type of kitsune image, a type of piece I've seen a lot of times in the past. Above all, the calm and cool expressiveness of the character has just the right amount of intensity to draw the viewer into the image and evoke a sort of curiosity in what is going on in the person's head.

In terms of 'room for improving,' I can't see much, if anything that the piece itself needs improvement on. The right hand 'might' be just barely small, but this may also be a stylistic preference or have to do with the angle of the hand, and at the end of the day I say that more out of nitpicking to try to offer some critique rather than just saying 'stunning.' I really can't see any memorable flaws in the piece at all.
